Alaska’s Mileage Plan is one of my favourite frequent flyer programmes due to their unique partnerships with mostly oneworld airlines. My favourite ways to redeem Alaska miles include Cathay Pacific First and Business Class, Qantas First Class, JAL First and Business Class, Finnair Business Class, and Aer Lingus Economy Class around Europe. The one major restriction with Mileage Plan is that you cannot book every… Read More

Fiji Airways will soon join oneworld connect – the airline won’t be a full oneworld member but will rather be a connecting partner for oneworld and the goal is to transport passengers from/to oneworld airlines on Fiji Airways throughout the South Pacific. For most oneworld elite members (Sapphire and Emerald), this won’t mean much as the only benefits that will apply will be Priority Check-In… Read More

Fiji Airways, the flag carrier of Fiji, partners with both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines whereby you can earn and redeem miles for travel on Fiji Airways. While you can earn and redeem miles with American Airlines on all FJ routes, you can also earn Alaska Airlines miles on all FJ routes, but you can’t redeem AS miles on FJ routes to/from Asia (you can… Read More

Alaska Airlines, Seattle’s Hometown Airline, has formally announced a few days ago their new partnership with Irish airline Aer Lingus. This should come as no surprise given that Aer Lingus is introducing flights to Seattle as of 18 May. The Irish airline also serves Los Angeles and San Francisco – Alaska’s gateway cities. In total, Aer Lingus serves 13 cities in North America from Dublin. The new Alaska… Read More

Alaska Airlines’ First Class isn’t industry leading. Yes, there are power ports and WiFi, but the food is often the same for months. Chicken anyone? The one improvement Alaska has made over the years is to remove one row of First Class (reducing four to three rows) in order to enhance legroom for First Class passengers. While all major airlines are installing flat-bed seats on select aircraft… Read More

Enhancements, enhancements! Etihad Airways announced today that First Class guests will now have access to free WiFi inflight. This is obviously a positive enhancement to Etihad’s First Class service as the airline has been cost-cutting like crazy recently. I have just flown Etihad A380 First Class from Abu Dhabi to Sydney a few weeks ago, and I didn’t notice that much cost-cutting as the food was… Read More

I really don’t get why so many people love Alaska Airlines – their First Class is awful, their lounges are terrible, most of their FAs and ground staff are consistently rude, they’re not focusing on Seattle much anymore (but rather the West Coast), their mileage programme is basically useless for redemptions if you don’t travel to/from North America, and the list goes on and on…. The best way to fly, besides flying private (and Lufthansa First Class), is The Etihad Residence on the Airbus A380. The Residence is a three-room suite in the sky – featuring a living room, a bathroom with a shower, and a bedroom. Two people can fly in the Residence – however, there isn’t really a good way to redeem miles for the experience.. which only leaves… Read More

Etihad Airways First and Business Class used to be one of my favourite ways to fly to/from the Middle East. Personally, I think that Emirates is way overrated and their First Class is not as great as Etihad’s A380 Apartment, furthermore, Emirates’ Business Class is beyond terrible with an awful configuration. Etihad’s premium cabins were incredible in 2015 and 2016… and then they started to… Read More

My second favourite way to fly (after Lufthansa First Class, of course), has long been Etihad’s A380 First Class Apartment. I’ve flown the product over a dozen times by now and I was always left with a positive and “reimagined” experience… well it looks like Etihad Airways has really sunk with their cost-cutting. Where do I begin? The Etihad Airways First Class Lounge in Abu… Read More
