United Club (International Terminal) San Francisco
A Weekend in la Ciudad de México – Introduction
The last lounge of the night for me to visit was the United Club in the International Terminal. There are currently three United Clubs at SFO – one in Boarding Area E, F, and the International Terminal G. I’ve previously reviewed this club before here, back in 2013 but that was the other side of the lounge as there are two ‘sides’.
The lounge is actually located one level up from the main departures level in that once you enter the lounge, you need to take an escalator up to the lounge where the lounge is absolutely massive. It’s huge. I think it might be one of the biggest in San Francisco, there are two areas to the lounge and each have the food, but only one area, the left one, has the bar. The right side of the lounge was closed for cleaning and the food was only available in the left area where the bar was, therefore I spent a majority of the time in the left area.
All in all, I spent about two hours in the lounge catching up on emails and talking to family on Skype as I waited for my flight to Mexico City.
The lounge was super, super empty. There were about only ten people in the lounge which made it for a very pleasant, quiet, relaxing atmosphere at around 22:00.
All United Clubs at SFO now feature the new United Club Food, which is significantly better than the previous food.
The food spread consisted of a vegetable soup, crackers, red peppers, olives, hummus, mediterranean salad, cheese cubes, apples, brownie brittles, trail mix, skittles, bread, and more. I really like the new food, and especially the hummus and peppers. The Brownie Brittle is amazing, I think it is my new favourite snack. ever. I bought a ton of them online and I’m currently eating the brittles.. I know they aren’t the healthiest.. but they’re delicious.
The Artisan Breads are delicious and they are really fresh.
BROWNIE BRITTLE!!! OMG!!! I LOVE IT!
After cleaning the other side of the lounge they opened it, and I decided to check it out… but there wasn’t anyone there and they also removed the food since it was already late so there wasn’t a point in really staying in that area.
After taking pictures (I really like it when lounges are empty.. awesome pictures), I decided to have supper which consisted of the vegetable soup, bread, hummus and peppers, and of course, brownie brittle! The soup was delicious and very fresh, the hummus and peppers were also excellent.
I think that from all three of the lounges that I visited in the International Terminal, the United Club is by far my favourite.. for a couple of reasons: Yes, the food may not be the best as in the other lounges, but at least it doesn’t smell and it is edible. The lounge is also super spacious, quiet, and it doesn’t smell horribly as the other lounges (mainly because it doesn’t have stinky food).
The United Club in the International Terminal is a very nice and spacious lounge, where you can sit and relax for a while (assuming it is in the late hours). I had a nice lounge experience and it was finally time to board my flight to Mexico City, my favourite city in the world!
Ah, no – the SilverKris lounge food is way more interesting. Different tastebuds, I guess. 🙂
