Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich
Completing the Lufthansa First Class Collection – Introduction
I arrived back at Munich Airport around 06:30, plenty early for my 12:00 flight to Los Angeles. However as previously mentioned, I wanted to simply spend more time in the Lufthansa First Class Lounge rather than the hotel.
Lufthansa and other partners operate from MUC’s terminal 2, however both terminals are close to each other so there isn’t a problem connecting through Munich. Actually, Munich Airport has one of the shortest possible connection times for such a large airport.
Once inside, I headed for the Lufthansa First Class and Star Gold check-in, which is located near the back of the main hall (conveniently located next to the security checkpoint). Lufthansa First Class passengers and HON Circle Members have a dedicated security checkpoint; other elites and premium passengers also have their dedicated checkpoints.
The friendly Lufthansa agent printed my boarding passes quickly and presented them to me in a nice, stylish Lufthansa First Class ticket jacket. He informed me I was invited to visit the Lufthansa First Class Lounge (which is quite obvious).
The Lufthansa First Class Lounge Munich is located in the Non-Schengen area of Munich’s terminal 2. However, there is also an entrance for Schengen passengers from the concourse below. An immigration officer is present in the lounge and therefore all of those formalities can be quickly taken care of in the lounge.
The Lufthansa First Class Lounge is accessible to Lufthansa and SWISS First Class passengers and HON Circle Members. Other Star Alliance First Class passengers may use the Lufthansa Senator Lounges.
The Munich First Class Lounge features the following amenities:
- Showers
- Relaxing room
- Office units
- Copy machine
- Fax machine
- Miles & More printer
- Wireless network
- TV
- Local magazines and newspapers
- International magazines and newspapers
- German magazines and newspapers
The lounge is open daily from 05:00 until 22:00 and is located near gate G21/H21. The Munich First Class Lounge is virtually identical to the Lufthansa First Class Lounges in Frankfurt and the Lufthansa First Class Terminal. However, the Munich F Lounge is smaller than any of the First Class Lounges in Frankfurt.
The lounge features plenty of comfortable seating areas, a bar, restaurant with buffet (and menu for ordering other food), business spaces, shower rooms (some feature a bathtub with a jacuzzi), and of course the famous Lufthansa First Class limousine service. Plenty of Christmas decorations still filled the lounge at the beginning of January, giving extra décor.
The restaurant takes up most of the space in the lounge; all food/snacks/drinks/alcohol are of course complimentary. There are two parts to the food in the lounge: a buffet that features both hot and cold food items and some drinks, as well as a menu that you can order from and the food will be prepared quickly. I would say the average waiting time is from 4-8 minutes for something simple from the menu, and a bit longer for something more complex. Seriously, it’s super fast – perhaps one of the fastest restaurant services in the world.
While the Munich First Class Lounge isn’t catered by DO&CO (as the Frankfurt F Lounges are), the food is still quite delicious. The buffet consists of granola, cereal, fruit, cold cuts, bread, pastries, pretzels, jams, yoghurt, smoothies, and a few warm food items near the back. I tried a bunch of different things and everything was tasty and fresh. My favourites include the granola, fruit, and smoothies.
The menu is in addition to the buffet and features freshly cooked dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The breakfast menu consists of items such as pancakes and freshly prepared eggs. The Lunch/Dinner menu is composed of soups, meat, salad, fish, bavarian specials, etc. The beverage selection is also extensive and features champagne, red/white wine, beer, juices, smoothies, mineral water, and soft drinks. Additional drinks can be found in the bar.
I arrived at the lounge at around 07:10 and decided to have breakfast first, before relaxing in the bathtub/jacuzzi. My breakfast was composed of granola and cereal, delicious pancakes, pastries, fruit, tea, and a smoothie. When I was finished with my bath, I had some more snacks from the buffet and was very satisfied with the food choices presented in the lounge.
My bath/shower room was ready after breakfast and the spa attendant showed me how to use the functions of the jacuzzi. There are several shower rooms in the lounge, however only a select few also have bathtubs. The bath/shower rooms are gorgeous and nicely complement the design in the lounge. Each passenger is presented with premium amenities and although I prefer the Etro-branded amenities in Frankfurt, the ones here were fine too. A bathrobe, slippers, and several towels are available for use.
Lufthansa’s famous First Class duck is also available in Munich! However, I noticed the duck was significantly smaller than the Frankfurt ducks.. Unfortunately, the Christmas duck was no longer available and I received the standard one.
I spent about an hour relaxing in the bathtub with the jacuzzi feature turned on for the full hour. I was able to enjoy a nice breakfast, then a nice, relaxing bath, and later some additional snacks before my flight. After the bath, I still had about an hour before my flight to Los Angeles and decided to simply relax and take in the environment while trying some other delicious snacks.
All in all, I had a wonderful time at the Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Munich. I spent a little over four hours in the lounge and felt so relaxed and comfortable afterwards. Seriously, there’s really no place that relaxes me as much as the Lufthansa First Class Lounges, the environment and ambiance is just perfect and there’s just something special about being there.
As mentioned before, the Lufthansa First Class Lounges are accessible to anyone holding a Lufthansa or SWISS same-day First Class ticket (or to HON Circle Members). Be sure to read this post for access policies into these gorgeous and amazing lounges.
