Lufthansa Business Class A319 Kraków to Munich
Completing the Lufthansa First Class Collection – Introduction
Lufthansa 1625
Kraków (KRK) – Munich (MUC)
Airbus A319
04 January 2016
Boarding began around 16:30 for the scheduled 17:00 departure, an announcement was made in the lounge and by the time I got to the gate, I was the last to board the bus that was going to drive us to the plane.
To my surprise, the flight was relatively empty – I was the only one in Business Class and Economy was about 45-50% full, therefore boarding was super quick and only one bus was needed for all of the passengers.
It was a shame we still had to be driven in a bus to the aircraft… that is, with three new jetways not being used…
We waited in the bus for about ten minutes before actually leaving the gate, I assume for some last minute passengers. Then I got an alert on my iPhone saying the gate was closed and once the final manifest was handed to the driver, we were off. The whole ride took maybe all of twenty seconds… and soon we were on our wonderful Airbus A319.
Lufthansa is currently phasing out their old Boeing 737’s (-300 and -500), and replacing those with A319/A320/A321s on a majority of the routes. Poland used to always get the ancient Boeing 737s on most of the routes – so it was nice to finally fly an Airbus.
Having an empty premium cabin all to yourself is kind of awesome, even if it is only intra-European Business Class on a short route… there’s something cool about having the front section of the aircraft empty and having a dedicated lavatory up front (which was enforced, by the way). Business Class consisted of just three rows on this flight, I was seated in my favourite seat, 2A.
Let me just say that the flight attendants were amazing on this route. Amazing. Especially “my” flight attendant who served me a snack and some drinks. If you’re reading this… you were absolutely awesome and perhaps one of the best FAs I’ve ever had with Lufthansa. We constantly joked around and laughed, she even wrote me out a plan how to get to Munich from the airport as I expressed interest in visiting the city later that night.
Not only that, she asked me the following: “Mr. Żmuda, I hope you don’t mind.. but we were wondering how you are a Senator and travelling in Business Class being so young? We were thinking you might be an actor, singer, or a DJ.”
I wish I was!! After she asked me that I just couldn’t stop smiling, I told her my passion for travelling around the world and how much I love Lufthansa. She was genuinely awesome – the best ever! She also told me I have that “charisma” that an actor or singer might have and she also said she can imagine me in front of a crowd with big headphones on DJ-ing! Oh man, I absolutely loved her!
In the end, I ended up giving her my card.. so if you’re reading this… thank you so much for making this flight a wonderful one! You were awesome! And yes, I have written a compliment to Lufthansa also!
The snack for the short, 50 minute flight, consisted of a some tuna (I think), some sort of ham, fruit, bread, and delicious dessert. The whole snack was edible and tasty; I decided to have some champagne and tea along with my meal.
After finishing the meal, I headed to the galley to talk with my wonderful flight attendant and told her more about me and where I’ve travelled, etc. She seemed to be truly genuinely interested and excited about my travels and she loved the fact that I love Lufthansa.
About ten minutes later, we began our descend into Munich and were on the ground shortly thereafter. I wished her a wonderful night and thanked her so much for such an awesome flight and hope to see her again. Yes, the theory is correct, the staff, service, and FAs are significantly, significantly better in Munich than Frankfurt.
We also parked on an apron position, but it wasn’t a big deal and we were in the terminal about seven minutes after everyone deplaned. Because I had an overnight in Munich, I decided to visit a few lounges and shops at the airport to entertain myself for a bit before heading to the hotel.
All in all, a wonderful flight – it really shows Lufthansa’s excellence and greatness. I definitely won’t forget this flight – it was one of the best!
