Ah, Lufthansa First Class… there’s no better way to fly. Remember when it used to cost over $10,000? Yeah, those days are mostly over. In fact, this is the general trend we have been seeing in the industry – Economy Class is insanely cheap nowadays, Business Class can essentially be purchased for what Economy used to cost… and well, First can be found for less than what Business Class used to cost.

Lufthansa First Class is one of the world’s best First Class experiences. From the incredible ground services in Frankfurt and Munich to the fancy car ride to your aircraft to the in-flight experience, Lufthansa shines. Sadly the same cannot be said about their Business Class product (at least not until their new cabin is introduced).

Lufthansa First Class

Lufthansa First Class

Lufthansa often published First Class fares in the ranges of $3-5,000 USD and sometimes there are restrictions – such as two people must travel. However, at the moment there are some excellent fares available, including:

  • Stockholm – Johannesburg: ~$2,700 USD round-trip
  • Stockholm – Hong Kong: ~$2,500 USD round-trip
  • Stockholm – Bogota: ~$2,600 USD round-trip
  • Stockholm – Dubai: ~$2,400 USD round-trip

There may be other fantastic fares, but these are the lowest I’ve been able to find. The amazing aspect of these fares is that they are also valid on SWISS International Air Lines. SWISS has a phenomenal First experience and is definitely worth flying – and unless you’re a Miles & More Senator or HON Circle Member, you won’t be able to book it with miles.

SWISS First Class

SWISS First Class

Most Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes will award you 300% of the miles flown for International First, some even provide an additional elite bonus. If crediting to Miles & More, you will earn a lot of Status Miles but not a lot of Award Miles as these are Lufthansa/SWISS tickets, which means they will credit as revenue-based.

Regardless, if you are able to find fares that work for you, then definitely book it. No one knows how long these will last and buying these flights with cash is certainly a better deal than redeeming miles in this case. As of now, the fares are available on select dates over most months – book now!
