Phone applications have changed everything – gone are the days of visiting a website to actually do something, am I right? In most cases, you can use a phone app to do just about anything – from booking a flight to buying a house to getting a date (ok, that last one has never worked for me). I can’t remember the last time I actually had to sign-on to a hotel’s website or a bank’s website to actually do something since apps have replaced actually opening up a web browser and typing in a website.
Travel apps are amazing – from airlines, to hotels, to transportation, applications make travel so much easier and smoother. Want to book another hotel or cancel a flight? Done! I use a variety of different applications to assist me throughout my travels and here are my favourite ones:
- Airlines
- Lufthansa/Miles & More
- Aeroplan
- United Airlines
- American Airlines
- other airlines I sometimes fly
- Hotels
- SPG/Marriott
- Hyatt
- IHG
- Airbnb
- Transportation
- Google Maps
- Uber
- Lyft
- Other
- Flightradar24
- Priority Pass
- Currency
- Expedia
While I have more than a dozen airline apps, I use United’s the most to find Star Alliance award availability. In my opinion, United has the best airline app out of all the airline apps – you can do just about anything with United’s app. Google Maps is the best way to check bus and train options since it will literally guide you step-by-step from your origin to your destination. Flightradar24 allows me to check aircraft in the sky and monitor the arrival of my aircraft, all while I use Priority Pass to check lounge options. I used to use other lounge “finder” applications, but I’ve rarely had them work well so now I just rely on Google.
While I probably have a ton of other apps, those are the ones I use on a daily basis. I’d love to hear which apps you guys use that make your life easier while travelling. Let me know!
