In 2018, Cathay Pacific announced it will begin flying to Seattle 4 times a week, beginning in Spring 2019. The nonstop flight from Hong Kong to Seattle will be operated with an Airbus A350-900 featuring Business Class, Premium Economy Class, and Economy Class. Seattle will be Cathay Pacific’s 8th gateway in the United States and 10th in North America.
The first flight from Hong Kong to Seattle is scheduled for 31 March 2019, with the inaugural flight from Seattle to Hong Kong on 01 April 2019. The schedule will be as follows:
- CX857 SEA-HKG 01:05 – 05:25+1 day on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
- CX858 HKG-SEA 23:55 – 21:00 on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
The Seattle to Hong Kong flight times are perfect on both ends for connecting flights – those from North American cities to Seattle and later from Hong Kong to various cities in Asia. The Hong Kong to Seattle flight is perfect for connecting flights from Asia to Hong Kong… while it isn’t ideal for connecting flights out of Seattle. This is due to the fact that all passengers will need to clear U.S. Immigration which means that the earliest connecting flight they could take would be around 22:30 – and there aren’t many flights leaving Seattle at that time that would work for connecting to other West Coast cities.
Cathay Pacific currently operates flights to several other cities in North America including BOS, ORD, IAD, LAX, JFK, EWR, SFO, YYZ, and YVR. CX partners with both American Airlines and Alaska Airlines – meaning that members of AA and AS frequent flyer programmes are able to earn and redeem miles for travel on Cathay Pacific. The best way to experience Cathay Pacific Business Class is by redeeming Alaska Airlines miles – you’re even able to stopover in Hong Kong for however long you wish.
Seattle is rapidly expanding – many new routes are announced from America’s new technology centre which allows passengers to fly direct and save time instead of connecting through other North American gateways.
