In my eyes, Lufthansa is the world’s best airline with the world’s best First Class product. No other airline comes close to the consistent and phenomenal First Class experience that Lufthansa offers. Naturally, since I’m loyal to the Lufthansa Group, it only makes sense to be loyal to Miles & More – the combined frequent flyer programme of the Lufthansa Group and several other European airlines.
I love consistency and the fact that most Star Alliance airlines in Europe use Miles & More as a frequent flyer programme, only makes sense for me to credit all of my miles to it and fly with Star Alliance. Even the cheapest fares will earn miles, it won’t be a lot, but miles will be earned (both award and status miles). While the requirement for Star Alliance Gold (Miles & More Senator status) is high at 100k status miles flown in one year, it ensures the loyalty programme is exclusive for those who can achieve and fly this many miles in one year. In comparison, most other Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes award Star Alliance Gold status at just 50k miles flown in one-year – which I don’t think is enough for all of the valuable Star Alliance Gold benefits.
The reason why I value Miles & More so high is because of all the elite benefits I receive as a Senator. The one single benefit that I value the most is significantly improved award availability on Lufthansa Group (and Miles & More partner) airlines – literally any Lufthansa, SWISS, or Austrian Business Class seat is available to me using miles – and if it isn’t, I can waitlist it and it will usually clear. Furthermore, Lufthansa and SWISS First Class are bookable using miles literally whenever I want – there’s no restriction, and if there’s no availability I can waitlist it.. and it will usually clear.
In addition to this, there are tons of other elite benefits I receive such as upgrade vouchers, priority assistance, lounge access, etc. Did you know I can even go into negative miles if I don’t have enough? The Lufthansa Group treats me so well both on the ground and in the air that I don’t see myself ever switching to other airlines or loyalty programmes.
