When you think of incredible mileage currencies, you don’t really think of Delta SkyMiles. Delta’s frequent flyer programme is unique in that Delta never announces any changes to their programme and rather implements them whenever they feel like it – which is why SkyMiles is a horrible frequent flyer programme. Nevertheless, there are still some fantastic uses of SkyMiles – especially on short flights within America starting at just 6k miles + $5.60 one-way.

Today is the last day to apply for some Delta American Express Credit Cards with huge sign-up bonuses. You can earn 60k bonus SkyMiles with the Delta Gold AMEX or 70k bonus SkyMiles with the Delta Platinum AMEX – both personal and business versions have the increased sign-up offer, which ends today.

Personally, I’m highly in favour of the American Express Gold Delta SkyMiles Credit Card as the annual fee is waived for the first year (then $95) and the limited time sign-up bonus is 50k SkyMiles after spending $2k or more in purchases in the first 3 months and an additional 10k SkyMiles after spending an additional $1k or more in purchases in the first 6 months. The card also includes a $50 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new card in the first 3 months. Some other benefits include:

  • Earn 2 miles per dollar spent on Delta purchases
  • First checked bag for free
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • Priority Boarding

While Delta miles aren’t the most valuable (if even that), they’re still great to have for the occasional SkyTeam redemption or Delta redemption during award flight discounts that Delta frequently offers. Apply Now!
