SWISS and Austrian are the two Lufthansa Group airlines that I love to fly in Business Class. Lufthansa’s Business Class isn’t that great and therefore I avoid it most of the time – unless there is a good deal, of course. Austrian has by far the best catering in Business Class, while I will argue that SWISS has the best service.
I recently flew SWISS Business Class on the Boeing 777-300ER from Zurich to San Francisco, round-trip, for ~$800 due to a mistake fare from last year that wasn’t cancelled. The flights earned me around ~16k Miles & More miles, which I consider an excellent deal. I even upgraded the return leg from San Francisco to Zurich to First Class using my Senator eVouchers.
SWISS doesn’t serve the best food in Business Class, however it is still perfectly edible. I was really excited when I noticed that the flight attendants were preparing “real” ice cream in the galley. SWISS does serve delicious Mövenpick ice cream, however it is usually in a container rather than a cone… so this was a first for me. The ice cream was still Mövenpick, but since it was served in a cone, it tasted that much better. Needless to say, I asked for another one when I finished the first serving (Business Class wasn’t full, so they had plenty).
As for other aspects of the flight, as usual with SWISS, it was excellent. There’s just something exclusive and premium about the airline that I love. I also don’t understand why I was never offered “real” Ice Cream in First Class…
