Enhancements, enhancements! Etihad Airways announced today that First Class guests will now have access to free WiFi inflight. This is obviously a positive enhancement to Etihad’s First Class service as the airline has been cost-cutting like crazy recently. I have just flown Etihad A380 First Class from Abu Dhabi to Sydney a few weeks ago, and I didn’t notice that much cost-cutting as the food was excellent and the crew was phenomenal, but it is clearly present during the “ground” experience – especially in Etihad’s First Class Lounge.

Etihad Airways First Class (especially on the A380) is one of my favourite and probably in my top 4 (along with Lufthansa, SWISS, and Cathay Pacific First Class). Etihad’s WiFi works reasonably well and is great for checking email, browsing the web, social media, etc. so free WiFi for First Class passengers is a great feature.
The best way to fly Etihad Airways First Class is by redeeming American Airlines AAdvantage miles. If you want to fly the A380, you are limited to either London, New York, or Sydney (and sometimes other destinations). Availability in First Class is decent and you can often find 2 or more seats (especially closer to departure). You can also redeem Asiana Airlines miles for travel on Etihad for a great deal (transfer from SPG).
All in all, I’m happy Etihad is finally introducing a positive enhancement to First Class as there were way too many aspects cut during the past year.
