While I am in love with Lufthansa First Class, the same cannot be said about their Business Class… at least not until they take delivery of their new Boeing 777. Lufthansa’s Business Class isn’t the best – the seats are in a 2-2-2 configuration, the catering isn’t great, and the service is “okay”. When it comes to Business Class, Lufthansa doesn’t shine – however Austrian and SWISS, on the other hand, both have fantastic Business Class products.

I fly Lufthansa quite a bit around Europe and thanks to my Miles & More Senator status, I do receive upgrades a few times a year when Economy Class is sold out. I would never pay for European Business Class as on most airlines it is simply an Economy Class seat with a blocked middle seat for “comfort”. Lufthansa’s European Business Class catering used to be in the “okay-acceptable” range, but for the past two or so months, the food has been downright awful.

Lufthansa’s European Business Class

Inedible food is what Lufthansa is serving in their European Business Class. The problem with Lufthansa’s Business Class catering is that they try to be fancy, but it ends up not working (it works great in First Class.. but not so much in Business Class). I was recently served shrimp in a strange combination with a “meat salad” – totally inedible. On the next flight, I was served cold duck on a stick and I was sick for the past three days… I won’t give you the details but it was awful.

Lufthansa, you’re a 5-Star airline, and you need to improve your European Business Class product if you want to shine – because when it comes to European operations, their Business Class is terrible and I actually prefer the packaged snacks they serve in Economy.
