Here we go again… honestly, Aeroplan knows they will be gone soon so why are they becoming worse and worse as they die? I don’t get it. Aeroplan used to be one of my favourite frequent flyer programmes, but now, I wouldn’t consider them in the top rankings. Ever since the announcement of the Air Canada and Aeroplan breakup, Aeroplan has been trying to tell everyone “they will live”, but due to numerous failures during the past few months, they’re dying quicker than I expected.
Avianca still isn’t bookable – that means members must primarily rely on Copa Airlines to travel to South America – the availability isn’t great at all. The agents are terrible – I can confirm that the competent and bright agents have already left Aeroplan in search of new jobs as they knew they wouldn’t have one once Air Canada pulls access to Star Alliance inventory.
I was searching random flights today around Poland and Europe and noticed that I didn’t see any award space on LOT Polish Airlines – in Economy or Business Class. LOT has tons of availability on European routes and therefore I was a bit confused… then I checked other Star Alliance airlines for award space on LOT… and of course it was there as it always was. You currently cannot book LOT Polish Airlines award flights using Aeroplan miles. I don’t know how long this has been going on for, but I just discovered it today. When you search for flights with LOT availability on Aeroplan, the calendar will highlight that there is award space but when you click on the actual date, the Aeroplan website tells you there is nothing. This same exact thing happens with Avianca award flights.
As if they need another problem right now…
