Last week, Lufthansa German Airlines introduced their new Business Class cabin which will debut in 2020 on their new Boeing 777-9. The new Lufthansa Business Class product will feature direct aisle access from every seat, each seat will have much more privacy, a special shoulder zone, and much more. Lufthansa’s new Business Class seat is revolutionary; the new seat will also be installed on Austrian and SWISS aircraft in the future.
Sneak-Preview gefällig? Hier ein Rendering vom neuen Business-Class-Sitz, der ab 2020 mehr Privatsphäre & den besten Schlaf bietet. Lufthansa published an official press release today, “Lufthansa reveals the first secrets of its new Business Class“, and the reveal from the German airline also includes additional surprises which were not mentioned last week. Specifically:
Comfort will be increased as of early 2018, with mattresses, new duvets, and pyjamas
Lufthansa will be providing mattresses, duvets, and pyjamas in their current Business Class starting early 2018. This is incredible news as Lufthansa won’t make us wait until 2020 for an improved Business Class experience. While the current Business Class seat will remain for the next few years, the service and soft-product will be enhanced.
In addition to this news, Lufthansa has also mentioned that with their new Business Class, passengers will be able to select seats with either more desk space or a higher “degree of privacy”. The middle “throne” seats in the new Business Class are huge and offer the most privacy and therefore will probably be available for purchase or exclusively for Miles & More Senator and HON Circle Members.
The new Business Class cabin will feature seats that convert into beds with a length up to 220 cm (86.6 inches). When turned into a bed, the seat will allow for the guest’s shoulder to “sink in” when lying on the side – this will make for a healthy and relaxing sleep. The seat has been exclusively developed for Lufthansa. From a technology perspective, Lufthansa promises something really cool:
all the functions of the seat as well as the in-flight entertainment system can be controlled using the passenger’s personal device
WHAT?! Being a technology geek, I really appreciate this feature. I assume this also means that we will be able to stream our media from our devices to the IFE directly. If that wasn’t amazing enough, check this out:
Smartphones and tablets can be recharged at the seat using wireless technology
LUFTHANSA, I LOVE YOU!
These new changes in Business Class come from the fact that Lufthansa is eliminating First Class service on a number of routes and therefore they need to enhance their Business Class product if they are to continue running a world-class airline. With these new changes, I’m convinced that Lufthansa’s Business Class will be the best in the sky. Lufthansa’s First Class is already the best in the world and with these changes in Business Class, the German airline will have both the best First and Business Class in the sky.
