When it comes to North American carriers, Air Canada is probably the most “premium” airline from all of the choices (American, Delta, United, etc). While I’ve redeemed over a million Aeroplan miles, I’ve yet to fly Air Canada – that’s going to change soon. My good friend and fellow blogger Avery from Don’t Call the Airline! was recently invited to preview Air Canada’s new intercontinental Business Class Lounge in Toronto… and the lounge looks incredible.
The Air Canada “Signature Suite” is a brand new Business Class lounge in Toronto’s (YYZ) International Terminal 1, near gate E77 – it is set to open 01 December and will be open daily from 07:00 – 23:30. Access to the lounge will be restricted to Air Canada revenue Business Class passengers on intercontinental routes only. Passengers on award tickets and passengers flying on other Star Alliance airlines in Business Class will not have access.
Avery describes the lounge as essentially a “high-end restaurant” featuring Canadian products, with a dining room, bar, and buffet. Other typical lounge amenities are also included – plenty of seating areas for relaxing or working. Because this is more of a “restaurant”, there are no shower facilities and instead passengers will be guided (with priority) to the regular Air Canada lounge if they wish to shower.
From what I’ve read so far about the lounge, it really does look incredible and much better than United’s Polaris Lounge in Chicago. Not only are there more extensive choices from the menu, but the drinks are of much higher quality and feature beverages from all over the world. Well done, Air Canada! I can’t wait to experience the lounge soon!
