Lufthansa First Class is by far the best way to fly. I believe no other airline comes close to providing such an incredible and consistent First Class experience as much as Lufthansa does. I’ve flown Lufthansa First Class over fifty times at this point and will usually fly it over a different product, even if that means more layovers or flights.. after all, those are fun if you’re in First Class!
The only downside is that First Class travel on Lufthansa is becoming harder and harder to book using miles due to two reasons – Lufthansa reducing First Class like crazy on a number of routes/aircraft and also because of frequent flyer programme devaluations. I predict that in a few years, Lufthansa First Class will almost exclusively be restricted to Miles & More members only (if not Miles & More elites only – like what SWISS does with First Class).
So what will be the best way to book Lufthansa First Class going forward? Cheap Lufthansa First Class fares. The product normally costs upwards of $7k USD, depending on the route, one-way. However, Lufthansa is known for offering cheap First Class fares out of several European cities – including Kraków, Warsaw, Prague, and Budapest.
Not in one of those cities? No problem, at the moment I am seeing some great Lufthansa First Class fares from London – which is much easier to position to from Europe or America.
While this is still a lot of money to spend on a flight, it is much cheaper than what Lufthansa normally sells First Class for. Normally, a round-trip costs between $8k – $15k USD, depending on the route and where you are originating. Finding a deal like this from London is incredible and something worth looking at – keep in mind Lufthansa First earns 300% of the miles flown with many Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes.
