I love SWISS. They’re an awesome airline with a great First and Business Class product and stunning lounges at their hubs in Zurich and Geneva. Yesterday I had the pleasure of booking a SWISS Business Class error fare ticket from Zurich to San Francisco, round trip, for less than $800 USD.

SWISS wasn’t the only airline involved in the error fare from Munich to San Francisco – Air Canada, Lufthansa, and United Airlines were all involved in yesterday’s error fare. However, out of all of those carriers, I would argue that SWISS has the best Business Class product.. especially since they fly their brand new Boeing 777-300ER to San Francisco.

Regardless of which carrier you booked with, the booking class was “P”, which earns 100% of the miles flown with many Star Alliance frequent flyer programmes. Since I am a Miles & More Senator not only was I able to assign myself a “throne” seat for free, but I will also earn around 4k more miles due to my Executive Bonus – meaning I will earn around 16.5k Miles & More miles for a ticket that cost me less than $800 USD!

I paid for the $800 ticket using my AMEX Platinum Card, which means I will also earn 4k AMEX Membership Rewards points since the Platinum Card earns 5x points per dollar spent on airfare purchased directly with airlines. All in all, I will earn around 20k miles/points for this cheap ticket that normally costs $5-8k USD.

I’m also excited as I have yet to fly SWISS Business Class and I think this is a perfect time to do so – on SWISS’ newest aircraft. The ticket also gives me a chance to visit America again and specifically, San Francisco, my favourite city in the USA.
