I’ve written tons and tons of flight reviews throughout the years, and it takes me on average 4-6 hours from start to finish to write the average First/Business Class review of a long-haul flight. It isn’t that I don’t like it or anything, but it just really is time consuming. In the end, however, I always enjoy reading back the reports and reliving my experiences.
That’s why I was thinking of taking it a step further and introducing video blogs/reports/reviews, etc.
What do you all think? Would you watch? I assume it would be easier to watch a 10-15 minute video review of a flight than to read a long report and constantly scroll down the page of my blog. I’m not saying I won’t be writing reports anymore, I’m just thinking of how to make the whole process a better experience for all of you!
So I’m being innovative here and thinking of ways to improve the format of my reviews. What do you guys like? Does the current format work? Or is it too much scrolling? What about a single photo gallery and then a post that follows, which is the actual flight review? That would prevent so much scrolling and also the constant switching between images and text. That’s one idea I’ve was able to come up with, is to have a centralised photo gallery and then a text review of the flight.
Here are some of my flight reports with the current format:
The other idea is a video blog/review of the flight experience. It would essentially be the same thing as reading a report, but you’d see it “live”, with my voice describing each aspect of the flight. I also think video better shows a seat, than a picture, for example. I can only take so many pictures of a seat and the features, but a video could show much more. I’m willing to give it a try. So many people upload videos to YouTube now and therefore I don’t think it is weird to talk to a camera anymore… so maybe I wouldn’t get too many glares from other pax?
I would probably record using my iPhone 6S, which has an amazing camera (I currently take all of my pictures with it), so I’m sure the video quality would be great. All in all, I think that a video review would be a better experience for all of you, since reading can only be so exciting for some time. People like visuals and videos, that’s why we are seeing bloggers incorporate video into many aspects now. Leave your comments below and let me know what you think.
Here is a sample video I recently recorded with my iPhone, to show you the quality:
