The first flight of my long ~30 hour journey to Poland was a United flight in First Class from Seattle to Chicago on a Boeing 737-900. The flight was scheduled to depart at 06:45 and I arrived to the airport at about 04:20 to check my luggage. Security was a mess, even with Pre-Check it took about fifteen minutes before I was able to make it to the front of the line. Apparently they hadn’t opened any checkpoints yet and that’s why it was an absolute mess.

Since I had around two hours, I decided to visit my normal United Club that I always visit and also the AMEX Centurion Studio and have breakfast at each lounge. The new refreshed food in the Seattle United Club is very disappointing and really nothing special. I ended up eating a muffin and some cereal before heading over to the Centurion Studio to try the more premium breakfast options.

As you can see for yourself, the breakfast in the Centurion Studio is much better with a wider choice and range of food. Not surprisingly, AMEX has the best lounge in Seattle with an overall gorgeous design and amazing food choices.

Boarding was scheduled to begin at 06:10 and I first spent thirty minutes in the United Club, forty minutes in the AMEX lounge and then headed over to gate A10 for on-time boarding.

There were a total of five rows of First Class on this United Boeing 737-900 and I was seated in 4A. I love window seats and therefore I was lucky enough to grab one of the last window seats since I had just booked the day before.

We pushed back on time and departed right as scheduled and were in the air shortly, making a sharp turn towards Chicago. It was around 07:00 in the morning and still very dark outside until about 07:40. I absolutely love flying at night (or when it is dark) because the view of the lights below is amazing and I was looking out the window for a good portion of the flight.

After the beautiful sunrise, the view was absolutely breathtaking outside and I really couldn’t focus on working at all since I kept looking out the window at the beautiful views. The breakfast service began about fifteen minutes after we reached our cruising altitude.

There were two choices for breakfast: scrambled eggs with sausage or oatmeal with fruit. I went with the obvious choice and the oatmeal actually wasn’t that bad. Along with that came some milk, yoghurt, and some warm bread. A glass of water was served along with breakfast and for my hot drink, I ordered some tea with sugar.

After finishing the breakfast, I tried to work a bit on my laptop while looking out into the world. WiFi cost $3.99 USD per hour, which I think is a bit expensive but at least it was fast. We experienced some light turbulence as we began descending into Chicago and therefore the cabin was prepared earlier than expected for landing.

We were on the ground at around 12:10, 32 minutes before scheduled arrival time. Overall, it was another quick and excellent United flight in domestic First Class with a great selection of food and very friendly crew that I was able to chat with for some time, they genuinely seemed interested in what I do and my life, etc. Once on the ground in Chicago, I had about three hours before my Lufthansa First Class flight to Frankfurt.
