My flight from Colorado Springs arrived way early and I ended up with a 1hr45min connection in Denver. Denver is one of United’s hubs and features two United Clubs, I simply went to the lounge closest to my gate and relaxed for a bit while trying out United’s new food.

I decided to sample the pumpkin/squash soup, Mediterranean salad, hummus, cheese, salami, and salad. All were excellent and tasted fresh, I’m actually very impressed with United’s food refresh in the United Clubs since the food now is much, much better than what it was before.

I headed to the gate about five minutes before scheduled boarding time, however it turns out the crew was late and therefore boarding was pushed back by about ten minutes and instead of returning to the club, I simply waited by the gate area. When the crew finally showed up, boarding began. The flight to Seattle was operated by a Boeing 737-800 and was scheduled for 2hrs59min, however the actual flight duration was more like 2hrs25min.

I find United’s domestic First Class to be the best out of all the other American carriers because of the legroom, comfortable seats, and excellent onboard service. Select United B737s have DirecTV which includes a wide selection of movies, TV Shows, and live TV which makes the IFE selection excellent.

As soon as most passengers in First Class were settled, the flight attendant working First Class asked each passenger if they would like a pre-departure drink, I opted for some sprite. The crew was excellent and very professional yet friendly, we were addressed by name and the service was top-notch.

We pushed back about twenty minutes behind schedule and departed shortly thereafter. Once we reached 10k feet, the seatbelt sign was turned off and the meal service preparations began. United Airlines recently added meals to more flights, because before there was a lack of meals on some flights of longer length, which kind of sucked. The dinner service began with United’s signature warm nuts, containing a mix of cashews and almonds.

The meal was excellent and consisted of chicken, a fresh salad, and warm bread; I asked for some tea with lemon and sugar to go along with the delicious dinner. United has seriously some of the best catering when it comes to domestic flights, I’ve never experienced a bad meal with them. I actually think they have better and more consistent meals domestically than internationally in the premium cabins.

A freshly baked cookie was offered for dessert, and as the rest of the meal, it was absolutely mouthwatering. I asked for some more tea and watched a movie for the rest of the flight.

Right as my movie ended, we began our initial descend into Seattle. We landed about ten minutes behind schedule as we had to circle around a few times because of thick fog in Seattle. All in all, another excellent United flight with a great crew, delicious meal, and excellent service. I absolutely love United Airlines and the entire Star Alliance network, there really isn’t a better way to travel around the world than with over 26 world-class airlines.

  1. Even an United commercial would not sound so much like a commercial. Excuse me, yes, compare to before United now has better food in the lounge than what they had before, and certainly in the air, but to call those meals mouth watering and the best overall? I don’t think many will agree.

    1. They definitely are the best from any American carrier, obviously not from any international carrier. I enjoyed the food and described it how I did.
