Flying the A380 in Lufthansa First Class – Introduction

Ground services are highly important when it comes to the First Class experience; premium passengers need to be transported as comfortably to the aircraft as possible.

Lufthansa drives all First Class passengers (and connecting passengers) and HON Circle Members to their aircraft from the Lufthansa First Class Terminal. Lufthansa also drives select passengers from their First Class Lounges, this depends which First Class Lounge you visit (Pier A or Pier B) and from which gate your flight is departing from.

After I thanked the Lufthansa agent in the lounge for changing my flights, I followed the driver outside the lounge into the main gate area and we walked towards a lift that was at the gate next to the First Class Lounge. After a quick ride down, we were outside on the tarmac with some incredible views of Lufthansa aircraft next to us.

My driver insisted on carrying my carry-on and told me I could take as many photos as I wanted of the airplanes, he also said we could drive a bit slower to the aircraft and take the longer way (whatever that meant) – the ride was about 5 minutes.

I was driven from the First Class Lounge in Pier B to gate Z54 in a Porsche, which was really, really nice. Once we arrived the driver once again informed me I could take some photos and even offered to take one of me in front of the A380. When we arrived at the aircraft, I experienced how really big the A380 is.. I mean from the outside it is giant! It is definitely a different experience than arriving next to an A320.

After the quick photo session, we took another lift up to the top level and the driver guided me to the First Class cabin and personally introduced me to the crew. I thanked him for the nice ride and quickly stowed my carry-on in my personal locker.

The Lufthansa First Class Porsche Transfer is an incredible experience, I mean being driven to the aircraft in a Porsche is an experience all in itself, and once again shows Lufthansa’s greatness and dedication towards First Class passengers. There’s no better way to fly!
