Best Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Frankfurt

Lufthansa operates two First Class Lounges in Frankfurt and a First Class Terminal:

Lufthansa First Class Terminal Frankfurt
Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier A) Frankfurt
Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier B) Frankfurt

The First Class Lounges are located in Pier A (Schengen) and Pier B (Non-Schengen) and the First Class Terminal is located away from the main terminal. All passengers who have access to a First Class Lounge can access all of them on the same day by having a super long layover in Frankfurt (something I recommend).

With that being said, which lounge is the best Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Frankfurt?

Unfortunately there isn’t a way to answer that and there isn’t a *best* First Class Lounge as all of them are mostly equal and each lounge has a special amenity that the other lounges don’t. For example, you are guaranteed to be driven to your aircraft from the Lufthansa First Class Terminal because it isn’t located in the main terminal, and you aren’t guaranteed this in the First Class Lounges unless your flight departs from an eligible gate. Let’s take a look at each lounge and the advantages/disadvantages of them:

Lufthansa First Class Terminal Frankfurt

Lufthansa First Class Terminal
Lufthansa First Class Terminal
The First Class Terminal is unique because it is located away from the main terminal and it is meant for passengers who are originating in Frankfurt (however you can use it if you are connecting). At the First Class Terminal, you clear security in about ten seconds and are immediately seated drinking champagne about thirty seconds after you’ve arrived there, it’s amazing and a one-of-a-kind experience. The First Class Terminal also features a personal assistant – each passenger is assigned a Lufthansa agent (usually the first one who welcomes you to the terminal). You can put away your watch and the assistant will notify you when your Porsche or Mercedes is ready to take you to the aircraft.

The only downside I can think of is the fact that the terminal doesn’t have tarmac views since it is actually located behind the A concourse and therefore you can actually see the A concourse instead of the tarmac. Another disappointment is that it doesn’t have a spa (though the Pier B lounge does). Those are the only two “complaints” that I have, but otherwise it’s amazing. (I put complain in quotes because it is a really small complaint since the overall experience and atmosphere is grand).

Each passenger should experience the First Class Terminal since you truly feel privacy and First Class comfort even before you are on the aircraft. It’s awesome not to have to go to the main terminal and see any other passengers, the private feeling makes you feel really special. All in all, the First Class Terminal experience is by far one of the best when it comes to First Class.

Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier A) Frankfurt

Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier A)
Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier A)
The Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Pier A is by far my favourite, for a couple of reasons. It is the newest out of all three (opened in late 2012), features a First Class library with high-quality, gorgeous books, has great tarmac views, and it virtually never has any passengers. If you visit all three lounges, you will notice the Pier A First Class Lounge furniture and design feels and looks much newer and the new “smell” hasn’t yet faded away – it is a gorgeous lounge overall.

Since the lounge is located in the Schengen area, it is mainly for HON Circle Members who are connecting through Frankfurt on Schengen flights. The few times that I’ve been to this lounge there were around two-three other passengers and that’s why this lounge maximises privacy and is super relaxing due to the quiet atmosphere. No First Class flights leave from the A gates and that’s why you won’t find that many First Class passengers here.

The only downside to this lounge is that it has the fewest car transfers to the aircraft. Why? Because it is located in Pier A (Schengen) and most Schengen flights leave from Pier A AND remember that the lounge is located in the Schengen area and therefore they can’t drive you to a non-Schengen flight that would depart from other gates since there isn’t passport control in the lounge. So technically the only time you would be driven to the aircraft is if it departs from a non-gate position or departs from a Schengen non-A gate (a few B gates are Schengen). This is what is the most disappointing about the lounge, but other than that it’s a great, new lounge which has an awesome library and the newest amenities from all of the lounges – with incredible tarmac views.

Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier B) Frankfurt

Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier B)
Lufthansa First Class Lounge (Pier B)
The Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Pier B is equally nice as the other two, however it is the most crowded since it is located in the non-Schengen area and inside of the terminal. You will be driven to most flights from this lounge, but sometimes all of the cars are busy and you will have to wait a bit past scheduled boarding time. On the plus side, the lounge features a First Class Spa which features a wide range of various massages and other spa “activities”.

The lounge also features great views of the tarmac as the gates are literally underneath the lounge and the aircrafts are parked right outside the window. While the First Class Terminal features a personal assistant service (whereby you don’t have to check what time it is since they notify you), the First Class Lounges don’t have personal assistants and therefore you have to watch your time. I’m sure if you “forgot” the time they would find you as they have a list of all of the passengers in the lounge.

The First Class Lounge in Pier B is also a bit older and might show some signs of wear on the furniture and the lounge doesn’t look that new/fresh – but it is still very clean and modern. All three lounges are roughly the same size and feature mostly the same amenities, such as:

  • Restrooms
  • Showers
  • Relaxing room
  • Office units
  • Copy machine
  • Fax machine
  • PC with internet access
  • Wireless network
  • TV
  • Local magazines and newspapers
  • International magazines and newspapers
  • German magazines and newspapers
  • Restaurant with buffet

As I mentioned, each lounge has a special amenity:

Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Pier A: Library with high-quality books (and is the newest lounge)
Lufthansa First Class Lounge in Pier B: Spa
Lufthansa First Class Terminal: Personal Assistant Service and guaranteed car transfer

Ultimately it is up to you personally to decide which lounge is the best. If you have more than 90 minutes in Frankfurt, I would recommend going to the First Class Terminal, if less, the First Class Lounge that works out the best for you using the above conditions. Hopefully this outlined some of the best aspects of each lounge.
