Last week I asked you all as to whether or not I should keep both Club Carlson Credit Cards as my annual fee on both of them is coming up in a few weeks.
First of all, thanks so much for the comments and emails – they helped me decide what to do with both cards. I’ve decided that I’m keeping both the personal and business Club Carlson credit cards.
Why? Well the renewal bonus each year for just keeping the card is 40k Club Carlson points for each card, which makes that a total of 80k Club Carlson points each year. The annual fee for the Club Carlson℠ Premier Rewards Visa Signature® Card is $75 USD and the annual fee for the Club Carlson℠ Business Rewards Visa® Card is $60 USD.
So for $135 USD each year, I will receive 80k Club Carlson points which I can use at any Club Carlson hotel worldwide. Club Carlson has great availability for free nights using points and therefore it makes sense to keep both cards as paying the annual fee is well worth it.
For example, in Paris:
or in London:
or in Iceland at the Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel Reykjavík:
Also, just for having the card you have Club Carlson Gold Elite Status which entitles you to free upgrades (provided a better room is available), I have been ~85% successful with free upgrades on both revenue and award (point) stays and I find that free elite upgrades with Club Carlson are given most of the time.
All in all, as you can see $135 USD can get you a great deal at some amazing hotels that Club Carlson has throughout Europe and elsewhere. Club Carlson has a ton of great hotels around the world and I was able to redeem my points for some of them (prior to June 1 for a second free night):
If you have the Club Carlson credit cards, I would recommend keeping them just for the renewal bonus points as you can see that the points can really help you get a great value at some of Club Carlson’s hotels worldwide. Will you be keeping or cancelling your Club Carlson credit card(s)?
