Wow. Wow. Wow. I don’t think I will be ever able to properly describe what the past 20 or so hours have just done to me.
Perhaps the days leading up to the flight had me so anxious and excited that I wasn’t able to sleep at all. This was my first time flying the new Lufthansa First Class (yes, I know a bit late) and I was lucky to have been able to fly the new First Class for the first time in the best configuration of the product.
Only six Lufthansa Boeing 747-400’s (D-ABVH, D-ABVK, D-ABVL, D-ABVM, D-ABVN, D-ABVS) have the separate seat and bed combination.. and sadly Lufthansa is getting rid of this configuration, which is why I also wanted to experience it at least once before it is gone. On other aircraft, Lufthansa First Class just consists of the seat, however it goes fully flat and then the flight attendants provide a turndown service. On the 747-400, the seat does not go fully flat due to the bed.
Until about early August, Lufthansa is flying this configuration between Seattle and Frankfurt and later it will be flying a B747-400 with Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class only on the Seattle route… which is kind of confusing as the First Class cabin is usually at least half full.
Anyway, the whole experience literally left me speechless. It was hands down the best flight of my life. The crew was phenomenal and very attentive to detail, the food was beyond excellent, and just the general atmosphere left me feeling like if I was in a dream.
I planned for an eight hour layover in Frankfurt so that I could visit the Lufthansa First Class Terminal and be driven to my connecting flight to Poland in a Porsche.
The whole journey literally left me speechless.. it was completely different from any other First Class flights or ground services I’ve ever experienced. Once I arrived at the terminal, I cleared security within thirty seconds and about a minute after arriving, I was already comfortably seated in the First Class Terminal.
Stay tuned for lots and lots of pictures and a very (detailed) trip report!
