I had a few minutes after clearing customs and decided to spend a few minutes in Terminal E’s United Club, which wasn’t the smartest idea. Why? Because I had thirty minutes and it took half of that time for the lounge dragon to verify that I was indeed eligible to use the United Club. I find it so funny that American carriers defend their lounge access so much even though their lounges for the most part are horrible… and she denied me entry three times before a supervisor came and finally let me in. Basically the lady was saying that I can’t come in because I’m connecting from an international Economy flight to a domestic First flight… right, that’s correct. Except that I have a Star Alliance Gold card which is how I gained access and she seemed to not know that.

The flight to Los Angeles was operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft with just 12 seats in First Class along with a generous amount of legroom.

As soon as someone took a seat in First Class, the lead flight attendant offered them a pre-departure beverage.

We departed ahead of schedule.

As soon as we reached our cruising altitude of 11k metres, all of the crew began meal preparations which included passing out warm nuts to everyone in First Class along with a drink of our choice. I had some Tea with Lemon and Sugar.

For the lunch there were two options: Pasta or Chicken. Since I just ate some chicken on one of my last United flights, I decided to give the pasta a try and it wasn’t great.

There was also a salad with sesame dressing and a piece of bread.

As we began approaching Los Angeles, we were presented with a beautiful sunrise.

We were on the ground in no time and had to wait about ten minutes for our gate to be free and we were fortunate enough to stop and wait by the international terminal which had some beautiful birds!

  1. Just my opinion…domestic first class flights do not require a trip report. We know they all suck!!

  2. I can’t agree with Vivek in this matter because so many times I have traveled with domestic flights and really I enjoyed my trip fully.
