Kraków (KRK) – Frankfurt (FRA)
18 July 2013
Upfront I should say this was probably one of the best intra-european flights I’ve ever had. Boarding was done by bus since none of the airports in Poland (other than Warsaw) have aprons. The bus ride was a short three minute journey and we were driven to the beautiful Boeing 737 that would be taking us to Frankfurt.
Boarding was done through the front and rear doors and most people still used the front door even though they had seats in the last row of the airplane. I don’t understand why people can’t be smart and proactive about things like this. If my row on the plane is 30, then I obviously should board through the back door.
Business Class was three rows and every seat was taken. The Boeing 737 has a 3-3 configuration, so the middle seat was blocked. All window seats were taken when I booked the flight, so I had an aisle seat in the third row.
I have to say that the purser, Ms. Fuchs, was amazing. She constantly looked after me and made sure I was comfortable. She also addressed me by name and that made the whole experience much better. I’ve never been addressed by name on a short flight before, but I guess she wanted to make my journey more pleasant.
The mini menus came along with the lunch and this time it was a little bit bigger than the last mini menu I got.
The lunch was actually edible! I was hesitant to eat anything after my last food poisoning from the cold duck served on my last Lufthansa flight, however this time everything tasted fresh and I knew I didn’t have anything to worry about.
The lunch was:
- Rolled Roast Beef with Mustard Sour Cream and green Asparagus, Coleslaw
- Marinated Halibut on Ratatouille Zucchini Salad
- Cottage Cheese with sun-dried Tomatoes and Frankfurt-style Herb Pesto
- Red Berry Compote with fresh Berries and Cream
There were several options for the bread and they were all warm and delicious. A box of pralines was waiting for dessert.
For drinks, I had tea with lemon and sugar along with a glass of Sprite.
Soon after lunch, we began descending into Frankfurt and were on the ground right on schedule. I thanked the purser for making the flight wonderful and she smiled and said ‘my pleasure’! I later wrote a compliment about the flight on the Lufthansa website. We pulled into a remote stand and were taken to the A Concourse by bus.
