I returned to America a few weeks ago from Poland to finish my last year of university and of course I took the opportunity to try another awesome Star Alliance Business Class product, specifically Austrian’s fantastic Business Class. I booked Kraków – Vienna – Washington – Seattle for a total of 63k Avianca LifeMiles and under $60 USD for taxes and fees. All flights were in Business Class, with the Washington to Seattle flight being in United domestic First Class.
The airline currently operates the B767 and B777 on long-haul flights, with the Austrian Airlines B767 Business Class having direct aisle access from every seat (since the 767 isn’t as wide as the 777). Now, the Boeing 767 is an old aircraft and not the most extravagant ride across the ocean, but nevertheless, the experience was awesome thanks to Austrian Airlines.
Before boarding my flight to Washington, I spent a few minutes at Austrian’s Non-Schengen Senator Lounge and wasn’t too impressed by the lounge overall, though the food was excellent. The lounge was really small and crowded, with limited seating throughout. I left the lounge a few minutes before boarding began and arrived at the gate as boarding began and was one of the first passengers on the plane.
Austrian’s Business Class is fantastic, naturally all seats are flatbeds and super comfortable and spacious. Obviously the single seats along the windows on the B767 are the most spacious, but the “middle” seats are also spacious. I was quickly welcomed by Austrian’s crew, which were phenomenal and continuously cared for me throughout the flight.
Austrian’s catering is done by DO&CO, so the food was beyond delicious and the best I’ve ever had in Business Class. Beyond that, the coffee selection they have is amazing – with over 10 Austrian coffees prepared by the flying chef.
Overall, the flight was excellent and every aspect was enjoyable. I will have a trip report soon, but here are a few preview photos for now:
