It has been just under a year since I’ve last visited New York City, and I couldn’t help myself not booking a cheap, $200 USD Alaska Airlines ticket that will earn me a little under ~5k (valuable) miles, to visit NYC again.
When I first visited New York City last May, I absolutely fell in love with the city and it quickly became one of my favourite places ever. When I was there last year, I had the most perfect and gorgeous weather all weekend long – so I certainly hope the weather will be as beautiful as it was last time. I did stay at the Park Hyatt New York last year and I had an incredible experience. While I’m unfortunately not staying at a Hyatt or SPG this time, I hope my other hotel elite status will help me out with a nice room upgrade and free breakfast.
I’m actually going with a friend (who I’ve dragged into the miles and points hobby) and she’s really excited after I explained how miles and points work. Since Alaska Airlines has really good deals from Seattle, we decided we’d fly Alaska around North America and try to get MVP Gold status by the end of this year (I’m switching half of my domestic flying to Alaska).
We are flying into JFK and flying from Newark, so it should be an interesting experience. We are going to be there for about 2.5 days and will mainly stay in NYC with a few outside trips if we have additional time. I’d also like to meet up with some friends and hopefully see more than I was able to last year.
Also, an interesting thing to note – this ~5 hour flight from Seattle to New York will be my longest Economy Class flight since I’ve started to be involved in miles/points a few years ago. I’ve flown Economy in the past few years, but it has been on flights under three hours… so this should be an interesting experience for me. My friend does keep apologising for the “Economy” situation, which I find super funny.
Anyway, I’m excited to visit New York City soon. If anyone is going to be there next weekend and would like to meet up, let me know!
