The Club at SEA (Concourse A) Seattle

a lobby with a reception desk and chairs

The Club at SEA – Concourse A… just might be my new favourite lounge in Seattle. Why? A great selection of warm snacks (such as soups, salads, etc.), extensive variety of drinks, and overall it’s a very big lounge with plenty of seating and it’s really empty and quiet – the perfect environment to relax and unwind before a flight.

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Airport Lounge Development (ALD) acquired management over two independent contract lounges which were managed by Seattle Airport independently without any programme. Basically the way it was is that Club International in the South Satellite and Club Cascade in Concourse A (this lounge), were being used for international airlines flying out of the South Satellite (such as Condor, Delta, etc.). The lounge was/is also being used by Delta customers departing from Concourse A.

I had a conversation with the lounge’s staff (who were super warm and friendly) about how this whole operation works. Let me explain, the South Satellite at Seattle Airport handles all of the international arrivals (those without customs pre-clearance) and therefore it also handles the departures. During the day there are numerous international departures, and the Club at SEA – South Satellite (formerly Club International) gets very crowded, so the Port of Seattle (the management of Seattle Airport) decided to have Club Cascade in Concourse A be the “overflow” lounge. The agents explained to me that since the Concourse A lounge is located very far away from the South Satellite, they have a cart service moving passengers between the two lounges, this I find brilliant. There’s no way people would walk all the way from the South Satellite to the end of Concourse A – it just wouldn’t make sense, it took me about fifteen minutes to walk between the two lounges and that’s mainly because I partly ran.

So for many years this is how the operation worked… and it still does, except now Priority Pass and Lounge Club members have access to both the Club Cascade and Club International due to the management changing to ALD and hence why the lounges have been rebranded to “The Club at SEA”.

Also, about a decade ago when Delta ran operations from Concourse A, this lounge was the Delta Crown Room Club. So as you can see the lounge had plenty of names and management in the meantime. Basically it went from being the Delta Crown Room Club to Club Cascade (when Delta moved most of its operations to the South Satellite), then now onto The Club at SEA.

The Club is located at the end of Concourse A, across from gate A11 and is located on the Mezzanine level above Hudson News and restrooms.

Access to both The Club at SEA – Concourse A and South Satellite is now much more extensive:

  • First/Business Class on select international airlines flying from Seattle
  • Elite members on select international airlines flying from Seattle
  • Priority Pass
  • Lounge Club
  • Diners Club International
  • Lounge Key
  • AAA Discounts Rewards
  • Paying for one-time access at a low-daily rate

The Club has a similar entrance and layout as the United Club across from gate A9. Comparing this lounge to the United Club, the United Club has a newer overall design, but the food choices in the United Club are really poor (although United will update food in their lounges later this year).

You can either take the stairs or an elevator to the Mezzanine level.

The lounge is very spacious and has plenty of seating and due to the fact that so few people know about it, it has a super quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

The old name of the lounge, Club Cascade, mainly comes from the view of the Cascade mountains in Washington, however as you can see the view has been impacted due to construction.

As I’ve mentioned before, the lounge is very spacious and can accommodate a large amount of people.

There are two snack sections in the lounge – one by the bar and the other near the entrance. The bar snack area features chips, pretzels, cookies, crackers, and protein bars.

All of the facilities in the lounge are super clean and do not show signs of tiredness, maybe this is due to the fact that few people know about the lounge and utilise it. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay and since United is my primary airline and it operates from Concourse A, I believe I will come to both the United Club and this lounge when flying.

Since both independent lounges at the airport joined ALD, more passengers now have access to the lounge which means there will presumably be much more people using the lounge. All United Clubs are leaving Priority Pass soon and therefore it’s very nice to have an alternative lounge for those customers in Seattle.

In conclusion, the Club at SEA in Concourse A provides a quiet, relaxing environment with a good selection of warm snacks and drinks, in addition the staff are very helpful and friendly. If you have time to visit this lounge, I highly recommend it – you won’t regret it and the lounge just might become your favourite in Seattle!
