For the ~20 minutes that I had in Orlando, I decided to go eat some snacks in the United Club. The lounge is located above gate 42, from where my flight arrived/departed. The lounge was super crowded and there wasn’t a ton of seating areas, perhaps it was the smallest United Club I’ve been to.

About five minutes before boarding was scheduled to begin, I left the lounge and roamed around in the terminal until group 1 was boarding.

Sadly this was the only ‘snack’ I could have since they didn’t seem to have anything else… The entire lounge was in a very old and worn condition.

I was the second person to board, and this time I was seated in 3A, and hoped they wouldn’t run out of dinner options by the time the FA got to my seat. The crew was, of course, surprised to see me again and the lead FA commented something along the lines of ‘that was quick’ (referring to me coming back on the airplane), I told her it was nice to see her too. She attended me well throughout the entire flight and was great overall. This time I was able to recline my seat at least 50% more since I wasn’t in the back row.

As people boarded, the FA offered us pre-departure drinks, mine of course consisted of a sprite. I mean what other choices do I really have? I’ll wait for the tea until we are at 38k feet.

The Floridian sunset was beautiful, but I still think I prefer the sunrises when flying down the coast.

Once we levelled off at 11k metres, warm nuts were distributed and drink orders were taken.

Minutes later, the FA brought me some hot tea with lemon.

For dinner, everyone received a salad and bread to start with.

There were three choices for the main course – chicken, ribs or pasta. I would usually go with chicken but for some reason the FA didn’t describe it well and I went with the pasta since it is kind of hard for airlines to make bad pasta.

My favourite part was the dessert – ICE CREAM! For some reason, ice cream tastes SO much better at 38k feet. The topping choices were whip cream, walnuts, caramel sauce, strawberry, and chocolate sauce. For once, the ice cream wasn’t rock-hard and I was able to consume it right away rather than waiting for ~20 more minutes πŸ™‚

I slept for the remainder of the flight and when I woke up, we were already at 11k feet, descending into San Francisco.

We landed ahead of schedule and I had over an hour until my final flight to Seattle and I decided to once again visit the Centurion Lounge and the agent at the lounge was able to see in her computer that I went to the lounge in the morning and I told her it was only for a short while and she jokingly said ‘well.. you can pick up right where you left off!’. Great AMEX service as usual.

The final flight to Seattle was uneventful and it was operated by a really old B737 without a personal IFE. As soon as we were in the air, I reclined my seat and immediately went to sleep as I was dead tired. I woke up just as we were landing in Seattle. Once on the ground we had to wait ~20 minutes since our gate was still occupied due to a delayed flight and there was an aircraft parked at every other one of the A gates.

Overall the mileage run was successful and the miles posted Saturday night to my account and I’m 25% done with re-qualification for this year. I guess ~3.5 more mileage runs to go? Here’s to the next one!

  1. I always find airline pasta to be gross 😑 I would have gone with ribs but that’s just me πŸ™‚ nice pictures!

    1. I actually find it much better than anything else. Guy sitting next to me had ribs and they didn’t look good at all.
