Re-clearing security was a pain since Pre-Check wasn’t open and there was a massive queue, and not only that – one lane was open and they were using the full body scanners. I of course opted out and it took literally fifteen minutes for a ‘male assist’ to come and give me the standardised massage. After all of that, I headed to the KLM Crown Lounge located near gate D8. I was going to go to my usual United Club, but since I was rather hungry, I decided to explore a different lounge. I was able to gain access using my Priority Pass card.
First of all, the lounge is super modern, nice, and clean. I was blown away by the fact that everything was in perfect condition and the furniture didn’t show too much sign of use. There were several different seating areas, lounge chairs, a ‘snack area’, couches, etc.
What really impressed me was the food spread, I’m very glad I didn’t go to a United Club since I would’ve been hungry for the rest of the day. Some of the food in the lounge featured a very delicious tuna salad, soup, vegetables, fruit, snacks, bread, and more. Also, there was a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and spirits.
The lounge was mostly empty since I was there after the KLM flight departed and I assume it probably is more full before the flight.
The design of the lounge is super cool, in that you have several different seating areas which feature lounge chairs, regular chairs, kitchen chairs, couches, and more.
The bathrooms in the lounge are equally nice, just rather small.
Overall in terms of food and drinks, it blows away all of the other United Clubs in Houston and if you have a choice as to which lounge to visit, don’t even think twice and just go to this one.
